During the corona pandemic, social care organisations such as the Salvation Army (Leger des Heils), HVO-Querido and De Regenboog Groep provided shelter at different locations in Amsterdam, such as the sports centre Sporthallen Zuid. Usually these people go to normal day and night care centres. In order to have fewer people in the same location and to reduce the risk of corona infection, they are temporarily staying in this sports hall. Volunteers help to prepare and distribute meals, such as theology student Geerco: ‘A little chat when giving out meals, a smile. I hope it makes a difference. Together we will get through the corona pandemic.’
