Imane is in the first year of secondary school (4e Gymnasium) in Amsterdam. In her free time, she practices her karate skills at the Karate school Fightin’Nabil. She trains six days or 12.5 hours a week.
Imane: ‘Karate is my passion and I want to reach the top in this sport. I am in the Dutch youth selection and during the pandemic I became the Dutch online karate champion. Although I was really happy about this achievement I can’t wait for the physical competitions. I was about to participate in my first international competition in Germany when they imposed the lockdown. And so it was called off, unfortunately.’

Tur-G (Arthur) is 19 years old and was born and raised in Amsterdam Zuidoost in the Kraaiennest area. You can often find him in the studio and he is currently on a gap year. He is planning to study ‘creative business’ next year. Besides making music, Tur-G is also very enterprising. He has a real interest in what’s going on in the community and this is reflected in his music. This is one of the reasons why his music is so versatile.
At the beginning of 2021, Tur-G started hearing rumours about plans by young people to start riots in Amsterdam Zuidoost. This prompted him to record a video message in which he urged young people not to riot and to share his message on Instagram. He understood that it was mainly small businesses that were affected by the vandalism, while these businesses had nothing to do with the imposition of the corona restrictions. This affected him deeply and that is why he, successfully, called upon young people not to riot.
He likes to make a positive contribution to society as a whole and to his neighbourhood in particular.
