Corona and young people

Imane has a very down-to-earth attitude about the pandemic and as future prime minister she doesn’t just see the situation from her own perspective but also from the perspectives of others:

‘Stay positive, there is always something to feel happy about. That has been my motto throughout. To be honest, I managed to achieve quite a lot during this period. I have made much progress with karate, I am about to start at a good school and I was named Young Amsterdammer and Talent of the Year. This has all been possible thanks to the fact that I have got a good life at home. I am given the opportunity to do something with my life. However, I realise that not everyone is this lucky and it is therefore important that we do something to help my peers who do not get the same opportunities as I do, who do not have a happy home life and who do not have equal opportunities. We have to be there for each other in times like this. Not just now but also once things get back to ‘normal’. The pandemic has exposed a lot of underlying issues that we will need to address.’

The pandemic also forced Tur-G to reconsider what he was doing as it meant that all his live gigs were cancelled. Fortunately, he was still able to make music even though he found it difficult at times to feel inspired. Tur-G managed to find most of his inspiration in books and series.

Tur-G realises that this has been a difficult time for young people and advises them not to lose hope:

Message for young people:

‘We may be going through some hard times right now but things will get better one day.’

Meo: ‘The sky is not the limit. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. It doesn’t matter where you come from. Believe in yourself and you will succeed.’

Tur-G: ‘If you can imagine it, you can achieve it’
