When nobody is around
My name is Marilyn Sonneveld, I’m a visual artist. In my drawing, animation and painting I investigate the role of identity, feminism and sexuality. The body is often central; my own body or the body of someone else, something that was quite normal in times before Corona. You could touch and cuddle someone’s body legally and without too much effort. Something I actually didn’t do very often at all. Still, the urge for someone else’s skin gets stronger every day. I’ve been craving skin for 3 months. Now I just have to do it by wetting the bodies of my friends. That’ll help. Because I smear the material (oil pastel) with my fingers I touch them continuously.
