Mouth caps prevent speech impediment
Per 1 juni zijn mondkapjes in het openbaar vervoer verplicht. Mondkapjes zijn in dit coronatijdperk onmisbaar, maar niet voor iedereen even handig. Slechthorenden en doven kunnen de mond niet meer zien. Liplezen, wat officieel spraakafzien heet, is daardoor niet mogelijk, terwijl mondbeeld en mimiek ontzettend belangrijk zijn om te kunnen spraakverstaan. Omdat je gehoorverlies niet zichtbaar is, wordt het vaak niet herkent door een ander. Dus twee dilemma’s ineen: herkenning en communicatie.
Op www.maakjemondmasker.be vind je de handleiding om een goedgekeurd venstermasker te (laten) maken. Zo blijft spraakafzien mogelijk.
Ook een goed idee: een textielsticker van World Wide Visible op je mondkapje om aan te geven dat je slechthorend bent.
From 1 June, mouth caps on public transport are mandatory. Mouth caps are indispensable in this coronation era, but not equally useful for everyone. The hearing impaired and deaf can no longer see the mouth. Lip-reading, which is officially called speech loss, is therefore not possible, while mouth image and facial expressions are very important to understand speech. Because your hearing loss is not visible, it is often not recognized by someone else. So two dilemmas in one: recognition and communication.
