Het werd net lente

The graffiti is what we notice first; ‘FUCK RIVM’. This has been written right next to a window of a restaurant in Bethaniëndwarsstraat that has undoubtedly been struggling during the pandemic. The barrier tapes (telling us to keep a distance of 1.5 metres) can be seen through the window, complying with measures as advised by the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment).
Graffiti protesting against a scientific institution; the social relevance of science in turbulent times could not be made clearer. And that with the Trippenhuis, the main seat of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, less than 100 metres away.
