Curfew Concert

Musicians of Concertgebouw orchestra hold Instagram concerts every evening

Under the motto Stay in, stay tuned, the Concertgebouw orchestra will be streaming short chamber music concerts at 9pm every evening starting from Saturday 23 January. With these daily musical moments on instagram.com/Concertgebouworkest, the orchestra hopes to offer a measure of comfort to all people in the Netherlands for as long as the curfew is in place.

Stay in, stay tuned will launch on Saturday 23 January with the first movement of Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat Major, Op. 20.

The musicians of the Concertgebouw orchestra will of course be observing the curfew as well, recording the pieces during the day to be broadcast later.

Chamber music increasingly common
In addition to its regular symphonic concerts, music performed by small ensembles has featured with increasing frequency in the Concertgebouw orchestra’s repertoire over the past months. NPO Radio 4 broadcasts chamber music performed by orchestra members on most Sunday afternoons: until such time as live concerts are possible again, AVROTROS is bookending the orchestra’s concerts recorded in the Concertgebouw with live interviews and chamber music from the Amsterdamzaal.
