Psychiatry in the city, disco at the clinic
door Josephine van Balen, geestelijk verzorger
Because of the measures taken against the coronavirus, it has been quiet on the streets and in public buildings for a long period of time.
As a dancer, I really felt the need to create something. I wanted to capture the time image of this period by means of a dance film. “Empty” is a project in which the disciplines of dance, music, architecture and film have been merged. It’s a twelve-part film series of all different places that are deserted at the moment.
Besides famous places like Amsterdam Central Station, Rijksmuseum, the Red Light District and the Leidseplein, I also thought it was important to film in general places like a church, a classroom and a parking garage to dance. I hope that “Empty” can provide distraction and entertainment in this crazy period.
