A patient is transferred by three nurses to ICU A just before the end of the shift. Sleep medication is stopped there, so that the ventilation tube can hopefully be removed quickly. During a transfer between the ICs we use a moving IC cart that is attached to the bed. The cart has a monitor and a breathing machine, so that the patient can also be monitored and ventilated during the transfer. The transfer takes a lot of time, especially with all the hoses and IV lines, and always takes place with at least two caregivers (a doctor and nurse). This way we can provide all the care that the patient needs on the road.
