Amsterdam in times of… no. 40

And after forty days, they were finally allowed to disembark, into the city, to participate in life again.
This is how the sailors must have felt when, after forty days of waiting, they were finally allowed ashore. For it was only then that the city council of Venice was reassured that the sailors could no longer transmit any scary diseases. We have been waiting for more than forty days to return to ‘normal’ life in the city. But there is no more normal life. There is adapted life. And that’s what we’re doing, for the time being. Because we remain optimistic.

Example of text and photo I sent to friends every day in March and April 2020.

No King’s Day, no “Occupied”. Where for years we easily occupy the streets and squares with markets, music and games on King’s Day, precisely this public space now seems to be a danger. Where can you still be safe in the public space without the risk of contamination?
